Even when your home has experienced structural damage due to foundation settlement, foundation piers can help restore it to its original position and provide lasting support.
With Regional Foundation & Crawl Space Repair, you have several different types of foundation piers at your disposal. We use foundation push piers, foundation helical piers, and slab pier systems. Each is designed to handle specific types of foundation issues.
Foundation Push Piers
Foundation push piers offer sturdy steel construction and a straightforward design. They attach directly to your home’s foundation and extend downward until strong support soils are reached. Push piers are especially useful for heavier, larger structures.
To attach each foundation push pier, we expose a section of the foundation footing and cut it to fit each bracket. We can complete this work any time of year, both inside and outside your foundation or structure. Once secured to the footing, tubular pier sections are driven through each bracket hydraulically.
Each pier section is continually driven downward until it reaches soil strong enough to support your home without compression. The push piers work together to transfer weight from the structure to the supporting soil or bedrock beneath your home. Once installed, we can attempt to lift your home back to its original position, if possible.
Foundation Helical Piers
Like push piers, helical piers are straight and made of steel, with the added feature of helical blades welded to each shaft. Helical piers are excellent for lighter-weight structures like most residential homes or homes without poured concrete footings.
Foundation helical piers can be installed either inside or outside of your foundation. Each pier is attached to the structure’s foundation with a steel bracket and mechanically driven into the soil.
Once installed and connected with your foundation, the helical piers will work together to transfer the weight directly to the competent soil below. This approach gives you your best chance at lifting your home back to its original position.
Slab Pier Systems
If you need to stabilize your settling concrete floors, foundation slab piers can help. Foundation slab piers are made of steel and extend straight down to stable soils below the structure.
Once in place, each pier is connected directly to the underside of the slab via support brackets. This setup will provide lasting support for your concrete floor and protect against future settlement. Slab piers are not appropriate for foundation wall stabilization or heaving foundations resulting from expansive soils or frost heave.
We core a small hole through your concrete floor and assemble a slab bracket beneath the slab to install these piers. We then hydraulically drive steel tubes through the bracket.
Once the slab piers reach competent soil, the weight of your concrete slab is transferred to the stable soils below the structure. From there, we can attempt to lift the slab back to its original position.
Once complete, we pump grout beneath the slab to fill potential voids and restore all cored holes with new concrete. We can install slab piers any time of year.
